Because his feet are so big!

Good news! We had an appointment with Oaklan's Orthopedic Specialist just to make sure his shoes were doing what they were supposed to. He got a thumbs up and we were told that his feet look wonderful. Funny thing is that we haven't exactly been following the rules. His little shoes are the most complicated things ever. They have a detatchable tounge which has a buckle that feeds through it and then they are supposed to lace up on top of the buckle. Well, Oaklan had a great big sore on his ankle from the cast and the tounge would rub against that so Mom took it off. Then it became such a hassle to lace them up every time that Mom just did up the buckle and he stays in them just fine. So we told the nurse and the Dr. that we don't use the tounge when it gives him sores and that we don't lace him up because he doesn't wiggle out. Instead of getting angry they said that alot of it is his personality, but that some of the reason he probably can't wiggle out is that his feet are too long to get out. So as long as he stays in them we will continue to break the rules and make our life a little easier.
