Crappy Saturday

So, the boys are out of town. Brian, Spencer (his brother), and Rod (his Dad) go on an annual trip. Usually they go to the Uintahs. This year they decided to go 4-wheeling in Southern Utah. They left Thursday and will be home Sunday. Me and the kids were doing pretty well, we just missed Daddy. Kennedy plays soccer on Saturdays so I got us all ready and got up to Soccer early which is a miracle. Kennedy played a great 1st quarter and got a little hot and tired toward the end of the game but they won. Kennedy asked me if she could play on the playground which was all the way at the other end of the park up this steep hill. Mind you I had already pushed the stroller and a chair up a big hill just to get to the soccer field. So I told her to go back down the hill to the car and I would drive up to the playground so I didn't have to push the chair and the baby up and down the hills. She wanted to walk up to the playground and told me to drive around and meet her. Okay, sounded great. So she went up the hill and I went down the hill, packed up the stroller and chair, said goodbye to the Grandparents and then drove around the block to the other side of the park. When I get to the top of the park I can't see Kennedy anywhere and my heart does it's little leap then I got out of the car and looked down the hill only to see a parent dragging Kennedy around looking for me. So since Oaklan is in the car screaming I can't just take off down the hill after her so I honked and then yelled as loud as I could. They brought her back up to me but of course she is traumatized and crying. What I great mom I am. So I tell Kennedy we can stop at McDonalds and I head down the hill to get something to eat. Well, I decided to run down to Kings to see if they had any tall laundry baskets to fit our new closet organizer..(more on that later). They didn't so we jumped in the car and headed back north to McDonalds. Only we didn't make it. A Saturn car decided to make a left hand turn right in front of me. There was nothing I could do but hit him. I ended up hitting him with my front passenger side in his rear passenger side. I was able to keep control and just pulled off to the side of the road. He ended up going over the curb and damaging the front of his car too. We had about 5 cars stop to make sure we were alright and about 4 people stay to be witnesses that it wasn't my fault and there was nothing I could have done. Kennedy and Oaklan were both okay. In fact neither was crying. I got them out of the car and onto the grass just in case my car was to get hit again. Kennedy kept asking if they were going to take the car away, do we get to get a new one. I could tell it made her really nervous but she wasn't hurt at all. I called my parents and asked them if they could come get the kids while I filled out all the paperwork. Brett and Amber came and took the kids home while Dad stayed to make sure I was okay and the car made it home. After filling out all the paperwork I found out that the other driver has only been driving for a month. The cop told me that he didn't cite him, just listed him as at fault. I'm not sure I agree with that. Anyway. Here's some pics of my not so good looking car. It's a 99 Dodge Durango so because it's so old we aren't sure if we will be totaled out or not. I'll keep everyone posted as to what happens. Then to top it all off - you know that RS broadcast dinner that Mom decorated for - they announced my wreck there and excused Jan as she was home attending to me. Well the whole stake got the news before I could even get ahold of my husband to tell him. People have been checking on me whether directly or through Mom and Dad. At least I have concerned friends that want to make sure all it well. All I can say is I can't wait to have Daddy back. I am very very grateful that we are all okay. It could have been so much worse and hit the kids side of the car or something so at least we are all okay. Sore, a little shaken, but okay.
