Sweet Rewards

When Kennedy was little we tried many different kinds of punishment. Time Out - we spent way to many hours fighting about the two minutes of punishment. Spanking - she would just look at us and laugh. We found out that locking her toys away and making her earn them back worked. As she has gotten older that became a little harder but we still use it to some degree. We take away her friend privileges or her computer privileges. But we also found out that if we rewarded her for positive things our life was a little easier. So last year we started a reward program. She earns "stickers" for good days and loses them for bad days. When she has 20 good days she gets to choose something for the entire family to go and do. This was to ease the pain of getting ready in the morning...as long as she got ready without a fight she kept her sticker. Well, that has become to easy. I have a few friends who have posted a cute craft idea for a Christmas countdown calendar. Then I saw more postings about Halloween countdowns and Birthday countdowns and it hit me. I made a reward count-up calendar. Instead of stickers we can now use this cute magnet board. We made it a little harder too. Instead of 20 good days she has to have 25. And to earn a magnet she has to do something extra, not just get ready in the morning. She earned her first magnet the other day by getting ready, turning off her TV and lights, taking care of her brother, and helping her dad.

What a great Idea!!!

Maybe I'll have to make one after I finish up my Birthday one!
