7 months old

Guess who's 7 months old today. And wouldn't you know it, he wants to crawl. He can now get from sitting to his knees and take one "crawl" forward then he falls onto his belly.

We decided it won't be too many more days until he takes off so while we had a lazy Sunday afternoon Brian pulled out the gate that we had made when Kennedy was little and hooked it back up again.

Later we were in Oaklan's room and we all were doing different things (like cleaning out the nasty smelly Diaper Genie) and had put Oaklan into his crib. We looked over and he had pulled himself up on the railing and onto his knees and was smiling at us. So Brian pulled back out the tools again and lowered the crib to the lower position. It's so fun to watch your children grow up and learn but at the same time it's so hard to know that our days are going to be full of chasing him around. How very fast time goes.

Oaklan had his "six month" doctor visit this last week. (Our doctor visits are off a little because they had us wait to give him his first shots until his casts were off his leg.) It was also a follow up visit for his breathing treatments. He is still on the breathing treatments but his lungs are clear. It seems that it's just stuff in his sinuses and back of his throat. Could be because of the lovely January inversion we had. So we asked about getting the "nose sucking" machine to clear all that out. The doctor ordered us a BBG machine. We found out later that supposedly the BBG stands for Baby Booger Getter. I'm not sure I believe that but that's what the guy swore by. He hates it but it has helped, we have had a few full nights of sleep.

Other things that Oaklan likes at 7 months old:

Playing with his sister

Playing Peek-a-boo over the shower door. We got in the habit of putting him in the shower with one of us so the steam would clear his nose. He has learned that when the shower is on and he is near he gets to go in. He gets so excited that he starts kicking and looking over at the bathroom. One day we started a peek-a-boo game over the shower door and that is now his favorite thing to do. Just look at that smile!

FOOD! Oaklan loves to eat anything you are eating. He hates to be left out of dinner. He has started to eat a few soft things like bread or mashed potatoes. He still loves to eat his "Mum-mum's". They are rice crackers that just melt in his mouth. He hates bottled processed Turkey. He actually gags when I feed it to him. It's so funny. But let's be honest, you would gag too! The picture is of him eating a Mum-mum.

BBG really does stand for baby booger getter...

All the slang we use in the hospital will eventually get into the names of new products that are invented through trial and error!
