Back at the beginning of April we received the following letter in the mail. (click to enlarge)

Brian was really surprised to be nominated for "Classified Employee of the Year". He hates the attention of things like this. It was quite an honor to be nominated by his principal and then he found out that someone at the district level had actually asked Ross to nominate him. Even better...someone at district knows his name and work. Wow! He had to write a letter about himself and this is what he wrote.

Reading his letter makes me cry every time. But it's because I am so proud of him. I love him so much and I know he takes great pride in the work that he does.
Later we received notification that Brian did not win but we were invited to a celebration dinner at Rickenbacker's. When we showed up we went and sat a table by ourselves simply because the only people Brian knew were at a table that was already full. Another Teacher and his wife joined us at the table and then we were joined by the Superintendent, his wife, and other district leaders. It was interesting to get to sit with the "big wigs". They were super nice and made sure we all felt comfortable. What was really nice was to hear all the compliments they had about Brian. It was mentioned several times that they were sure that they would hear his name again. Brian was one of 6 district classified employees that were nominated. Six out of the entire district. And he has only worked for them for about 6 years.
Congratulations Brian! I am very proud of you!
