We had the opportunity to go on vacation for Spring Break this year. Grandpa Joe and Grandma Jan asked us if we wanted to plan a trip to Moab together. We booked our place and looked forward to our trip to Moab. (We booked our place on VRBO.com - more about that on another post.) Because of the threat of snow or rain that day we decided to leave somewhat early to try and beat the storm and hoped to be able to enjoy a few hours of sunshine before the storm hit. Our decision paid off. We didn't see a drop of snow or rain but the Ogden area (home) had some flooding and lightening strikes.
Before we even got to town we decided to take advantage of the weather and hunt for dinosaurs. Or at least see some tracks. We followed our map to a little dirt road, frightened an antelope along the way, and made our way to the sign that told us we had arrived. After climbing this little hill there was a plaque that told us we had found dinosaur tracks.
Only we didn't find distinct dinosaur tracks, instead we found these holes.
Apparently these are Brontosaurus tracks. The site was found in the late 1980's and isn't blocked off so you can walk right on top of these. I'm guessing if there was distinct tracks they have long since been destroyed. So sad. We wandered around to look for more and we did find one more good track.
We also found some cool wildflowers, a cool dead tree, and a hole in the rock.
After Dino hunting we checked out our home away from home and got settled. Then we decided to venture out again.
This time we headed to Faux Falls. It wasn't too far from our townhome.
And we found some more cool wildflowers
Let's keep exploring. This time to find some Indian Petroglyphs.
Next stop: The grocery store and back home to make tacos and watch a movie. Great start to our vacation!
